Jumeirah Islands Guide

Completed in 2006, Jumeirah Islands is an idyllic residential community where the sounds of waterfalls and views of waterways abound. Consisting of 50 small islands, 46 of which are residential, Jumeirah Islands is entirely man-made, including the lake. Each of the residential islands has 16 villas. In addition to the 736 homes, the development includes a retail outlets and numerous recreation facilities.

There are four main styles of villas to choose from: European, Islamic, Mediterranean, and Oasis. Each cluster of villas has lush landscaping that reflects the style of the architecture. The European style villas are inspired by the Renaissance era, with tile roofs, pleasing symmetry, and abundant balconies and courtyards. The layout of the Islamic villas draws on the floral motifs of 18th century Islamic tile, while the architecture reflects elements of the Moroccan, Ottoman, Mumluki and Abbasi cultures.

The Mediterranean-styled villas and their gardens are reminiscent of the Italian and French Rivieras. These homes have numerous outdoor terraces surrounded by cypress and olive trees. In the Oasis-inspired villas, the theme of finding a refuge in nature is echoed in lush, beautiful central gardens.

All the villas are extremely well-appointed, conveying an air of elegance as well as novelty. Each villa has its own private swimming pool and garden, as well as maid's quarters. A home automation system, operated through a touch screen on the main floor of each villa, controls temperature, lighting, and security. Bridges and walkways wind through lush landscaping and over waterways, inviting walking and bicycling through the Jumeirah Islands.

Jumeirah Islands also boasts 31 mansions which set a new standard for luxurious living. The architecture is inspired by the Mediterranean, with extensive use of natural materials including stone and tile-work.
